Hello and Welcome to The Spunky Farmhouse!
We are committed to bringing you farm fresh raw milk from happy cows! We are here to help you will find answers to some basic questions and recipes.
All of our milk is bottled on the farm in half-gallon glass bottles. We have a “best by” stamp on the tamper-resistant lid, though milk can often be used past this date, depending on your preference.
We are certified to sell raw milk in the State of Idaho and our permit number is RCM197. This means a vet tests our cows yearly for brucellosis and tuberculosis.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Thank you and we look forward to working with you!
Cheers,
Ashley & Mya Haynes

Other questions you may have …
What do your cows eat, are they grass fed?
We pasture our cows for as long as the growing season allows and they are fed the grass that was harvested and stored during the summer for their winter feed.
Do you feed them grain?
Yes, we feed a small amount, (only a few pounds a day) of a locally sourced natural mix. It consists mostly of vitamins and minerals to balance out their diet for optimum health. This also provides them with a special treat during milking time!
Is your milk A1 or A2?
Milk contains a protein that is either type A1 or A2. A1 protein is the type that is common to most store-bought milk. A2 protein is in a very small percentage of milk consumed and is often found only in specialty market milk and is often locally produced. What makes the A2 protein unique? It is easily digestible compared to A1 and many individuals that have a sensitivity to conventional A1 milk can drink A2 milk without the negative side effects they experience. Our milk here at The Spunky Farmhouse is about 88% A2A2, though all of our cows carry the A2 genetic (meaning some are A1A2), and given the large number of customers who contact us telling us that they can drink our milk and not conventional milk verifies this fact.
What are your cow’s names and breeds?
We have 4 cows we are milking for the 2023 season and will add more in 2024!
Phoebe ¾ Jersey ¼ Brown Swiss
Sugar ½ Brown Swiss ½ Norwegian Red
Ginny Brown Swiss
Bella Brown Swiss
