Life on the farm

THE ONES THAT MAKE THE MAGIC:

Meet your milk providers:

Phoebe (¾ Jersey, ¼ Brown Swiss)

When we decided to get milk cows again, Phoebe was our first cow to the farm. Phoebe is the most observant cow we’ve ever seen! She loves routine but will be the first to notice if anything got moved inside the milking parlor – even if it was only by a couple of inches!

Sugar (½ Brown Swiss, ½ Norwegian Red)

After milking Phoebe and reigniting the excitement of having our own raw milk, we added Sugar to the herd. Sugar is curious and loves to be in the center of everything going on!

With an ever growing (almost daily!) waitlist for milk, we knew it was time to expand yet again.

Ginny (Brown Swiss)

So we brought Bella and Ginny home. Each cow has their unique personality which makes it super fun getting to know them and spending time with them every day. Bella is quite curious while Ginny is a bit shy. They are both incredibly docile and gentle (which are common traits for Brown Swiss). They are also both heifers and will have their first calves on our farm!

More coming soon ….

Why Raw Milk?

Want to learn more about raw milk?  In the early 1900’s Dr. Crewe documented many healing benefits of grass-fed raw milk which you can read about here:

I just listened to you on the podcast Come Over For Dinner and I just knew I had to pop on over here and say hello. You are like my cyber twin. We do all the same things. Even down to having dead creatures in boxes in our freezers. (I died laughing at your stories- and also with relief that I was not the only one.) And we both have six children! The only difference I can see is that we are not milking right now- one cow’s bag is hanging too low for my husband to want to breed back and one can’t seem to get pregnant. And we are going to wait until we get milk again before we get a fresh batch of pigs.

Anyway. Just thought I would say hi and how much I enjoyed your podcast. I can’t wait to try the recipe! It looks fab!
